Contact Link Plus (+) Smarter Business Cards for People Networking Using Tap Tech

Kontakme is pleased to announce our new product called the Contact Link+ business card. With Contact Link+ business cards, a "tap" is all it takes to open and save your business card info to any NFC enabled smartphone's contact list. The tapping action is derived from how one uses passive NFC tags which is the technology behind Contact Link+.
So what is passive NFC? It is a wireless technology that allows communication between two objects, where one object (the tag) relies on the principle of magnetic induction to generate power and the other object (the smartphone) is a powered NFC reader. They communicate at a limited distance no greater than 1 inch in most cases. The technology has been available for several years now in the middle to high-end Android smartphone models and there is a wide range of applications and services that exist today which aims to provide the convenience of accessing information or performing an action in the smartphone by simply tapping a passive NFC tag. These includes opening web pages in promotional flyers, downloading contact information from NFC enabled business cards, for pairing devices, getting WiFi access, choosing a phone profile, for triggering IoT enabled appliances and a lot more.
One may argue that iPhones do not support the capability to read passive tags. This used to be the case, but with the recent release of iOS 11+, iPhone models 7 and up are now capable of reading passive NFC tags. An NFC reader app like the one from NXP needs to be downloaded from the Apple App Store. We are hoping that Apple will soon provide a software upgrade to include a built-in control function so that there is no need to download the special NFC app reader.
