Kontakme Launches QR Coded Bag Tags Under Its Utagg.it Brand

We are happy to release our QR coded bag tags under our Utaggit (You-Tag-It) Smart Tagging Service. With our QR coded bag tags, we are bringing additional conveniences in the travel and property tagging industry. I am personally excited to introduce this as the travel industry is picking up again after the pandemic. Hopefully, this product will help travelers as well as the airline companies and airports cope with the baggage handling woes that is now frequently happening. The tags can of course be used anywhere else you can attached it and declare as a returnable property. We've prepared some answers for some questions that you might ask.

Why QR coded bag tags? Are the previous versions of our bag tags not enough?  

The short answer is that the market right now is just ripe for it. When we introduced utagg.it  in 2015 and then relaunched a better version of it in 2017 using our ContactLinks(TM), The North American market was not yet ready for QR codes. The majority did not understand what a QR code image was. Nobody uses it and most smartphones at that time didn't have native support for scanning QR codes. Fast forward to 2022, QR codes are as popular as ever. They are ubiquitous. Almost all smartphones in the market today support QR code scanning in the native camera app unlike before where one has to download a QR code scanner from a myriad of choices. With our ContactLinks, you can easily produce QR codes which you can print on stickers that you can stick on your existing bag tags. Our service was designed to offer QR codes on day one, we just did not offer it because it was not the right time. Now, there's no denying that QR codes adds a lot of convenience and functionality.

How different is Utaggit's QR coded tags from other providers?

The QR code is no different from the ones that you can make on your own. The difference lies on what happens when you scan the QR code and what information you can show to whoever scans your QR code and how easily you can configure it. You can even change the destination address, allow someone to contact you without giving away any of your personal information and allow someone to message you and vice versa. Take note, this is not a smart tag, but rather a smart tagging service.  There are a host of other features and more advance features that we will make available. 

Where can I get one?

We are currently selling it online at kontak.me  and it is available only in North America for $15.00 each. The tags are made in the USA using materials and labor sourced in the USA, except for the stainless steel cable  that is used to fasten the tag to the bag. We guarantee the quality of the plastics used. The laser engraved text and images offers long lasting readability and clarity.   We will soon offer it in other online sites like Amazon, and Shopify.

Your site mentions that I need to create an account. I have no time for that. Can I still use your tags?

If you can create an account in 3 easy steps without breaking a sweat, will that change your mind? To give you an idea of what I'm talking about, take a look at our 3 easy steps:

1. Scan the QR code on the tag

2. Create an account (enter your email address, preferred username and provide a password)

3. Attach the tag to the bag and you're done!

What if I want to add more tags, do I have to create another account for each tag?

No. You can add another tag to your existing account in two (2) easy steps. Once you receive your new tag, follow the 2 easy steps below:

1. Scan the QR code on the new tag

2. Click "Yes" to add the tag to your account and you are done!

Can I disable a tag?

Yes you can. And then you can activate it again whenever you want.

Your tags uses a long random contact link. Can I get a shorter contact link and not a random one but a readable one like my name?

Yes you can. Once you are logged in, click the Personalized Link button. It will allow  you to choose a contact link with a minimum of 6 alpha numeric characters.

Your site says that you are offering bag tag packs in 2 variants, a SINGLE and a MULTI-USER?  What is the difference between the two?

The SINGLE-USER pack contains bag tags with a single Contact Link. This means that when you activate one (1) of the tags, the rest of the tags in the pack are automatically  associated to the activated account. You can also add the bag tags in this pack to an existing account by scanning only one of the bag tags.

A MULTI-USER pack contains bag tags with different Contact Links and each tag can be used to create an account or it can be added to an existing account. Each tag has to be activated in order to be used.

How many tags can I have?

You can have an unlimited number of physical tags that have different contact links. What we are putting a limit on is the number of Contact Links you can add to your account. You can have a maximum of 5 contact links per account and you can increase it to 20 contact links by upgrading your subscription. You don't really need more than 5 contact links unless you are task to keep track a very large number of bag tags.

If you want more than 5 bag tags, we recommend the following steps:

1. Buy a Pack with at least 1 Bag Tag and then activate it.

2. Take note of the Contact Link. 

3. Go to our Online Store and order a Clone Pack of tags, and enter the Contact Link of the original tag, the number of tags, and the color of the tags in the order form. 

You will get a pack of tags with one contact link and there's nothing to activate once you receive it. They're all associated to your existing account. These tags can be used only with your account.
