KloudTM Contact List Kit

The eKloud™ Contact List Service or simply the Kloud* is a managed, online contact list that can be shared publicly or in a closed group. It can store the contact links of users registered in Kontakme and other Kloud contact lists owned by other individuals and groups.

With this service, it is now possible to easily recall, share or manage a contact list, no matter how huge. Integrating contact info to printed materials, websites, social media, messaging services is now way easier to do with our Kloud solution.

We applied the same principles that were used in the basic ContactLinkTM service that we offer to achieve the practical conveniences that we would normally disregard. You can look at it as a managed directory for public or closed user groups. But unlike the ordinary contact list in the smartphone or computer, it does not eat up the device's memory and processing power. Whether you have 1000 or 10,000 entries in the contact list, your smartphone's responsiveness is not affected. Technically, there is no limit as to how many contact links and managed contact list you can store in it as it does not consume permanent storage memory in the device.

And what makes this different from any other contact list is that the administrator of the contact list has only 2 functions, namely add and remove entries in the list. Each person who is part of the contact list is responsible for updating their own contact information. This way, the Kloud contact list stays updated as long as the other Kontakme users in the kloud keep their contact information updated. As we liked to say in Kontakme, the best administration system is one that has very little or nothing to maintain.

Contents of the Kit

The kit contains the following:
  • An NFC Card that will allow the Kloud admin to share the contact list with the tap of the card or by scanning the QR code.
  • Some QR coded vinyl stickers that can be used on flyers, print ads, or business card racks.
  • Instructions
  • A predefined account
  • E-mail technical support

The product will continue to evolve to support the operations of our clients. We have other features already in the development pipeline and we are excited to roll them out in the very near future.

Getting To Know Your KloudTM NFC Card

The NFC card will allow you to share your contact list either with a TAP, a SNAP, or a CLICK. The TAP and the SNAP functions are fulfilled by the physical card using NFC and a QR code scanning. The CLICK is basically a built-in feature of the service which allows a user to embed their contact links (short URLs) in their online chats, webpages, or social media posts which can then be CLICKED to open their contact page.

The card is made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plastic. It has 2 sides which we will call side A and side B. Sandwiched between side A and B is the tiny electronic module and a number of very thin antenna wires mounted around the edges of the card as shown on figure 1 below.

You can use any side of the card or any orientation when tapping the card on a smartphone. A QR code image is provided as another option to open your Contact List on the smartphone of your recipient.

NFC and QR Code Scanning

There are things you need to remember:

  1. Ask permission before tapping your card on someone else’s smartphone.
  2. Practice tapping your card on different smartphones. The NFC sensor detection area varies from phone to phone. Being familiar with the phone models helps you determine if you can use "tap tech".
  3. The receiving phone needs to be connected to the Internet.
  4. Study the picture below and remember where the NFC sensors are located for the different smartphone brands and models.
  5. The NFC sensor of Apple iPhones is always ON and the detection area is normally at the top area of the phone, both front and back (See figure below).
  6. The NFC sensors of Android smartphones need to be turned ON manually. Their scanning area is only at the back area of the phone (See figure below). You may also have to slowly move your card at the back area of the phone until you hear the beep or the buzz indicating a successful "SCAN".

  1. If it is not an Apple iPhone, politely ask the owner of the phone to turn ON their NFC sensor so that you can transfer your contact information. There will be situations where the owner of the phone may not know how to turn ON their NFC sensor. Politely request the owner of the phone if they can scan your QR code instead. We are assuming that the other party knows how to scan a QR code using their smartphone camera app or 3rd party app as this is a more popular scanning tech. Most smartphone camera apps nowadays can scan QR codes or come with built-in QR code reader apps.
  2. Most Android phones have their sensors at the back. It is either at the center or near the camera lens area.
  3. If you recipient is not sure how their NFC or QR code capability works, you can still share your contact information using the share options in your contact page. Open your contact page in your smartphone and go to the “SHARE” section. Select the smartphone or email icon and send it to the recipient’s phone number or email address.
