I am happy to announce the release of our latest product update for the ContactLinkTM Plus Business Card. It will replace the older version we released in 2017 (Contact Link Plus - Smarter Business Cards for People Networking Using Tap Tech). We have added new features to make it more practical to use, easier to deploy, and continue to offer cost benefits to small and large organizations.
What inspired us to add more usable features were our personal experiences in trade shows, take for example the last one I attended. I visited at the last day of the White Label Expo at the Javits Convention Center in NYC last September of 2022. After talking to a representative of the company for a printing and packaging solution at the exhibit, I asked for his contact information and for some brochures of their custom printers. The representative apologized by telling me that he ran out of business cards. The representative tried to give his colleague's business card to me, but his colleague said it was his last business card and it was about to be given to another visitor, too. So he politely asked me if I can just take a picture of his colleague's business card instead, and I agreed. Problem solved. The problem could also be solved by a pen and paper. Primitive, but it works. Or he could have shared his vCard from his smartphone, that is if he knows how to do it. If he was using our solution, the interaction would have been swift, efficient and with less drama, and probably more memorable.
As I have observed, representatives manning the exhibit area still use the trusted business card, yes, everyone. I'm also happy to see that QR codes were adopted by some exhibitors in their banners and some used it in their business cards albeit not for the function of easily transferring and saving their contact info, but to link to their website which is already written in the business card is redundant.
With everyone owning a smartphone today, exchanging contact info, especially in trade shows or person to person engagements should not be as challenging, but my experience says otherwise. I've observed that people manning the booths were issued with IDs with QR codes printed on it but the codes only open up an alpha numeric text. Perhaps it was for internal use only such as a gate pass. So it got me thinking, what if there was a better way to do all these contact information exchanges.
In my analysis, the paper business card does exactly what it was intended to do, so why fix it if it is not broken? Physical business cards are here to stay for now, and I predict it will continue to exist albeit as a niche market. The smartphone and the Internet has clearly managed to replace the way we exchange contact information and it will continue to do so. It is a super tool and capitalizing on it offers a lot of conveniences that are not possible before. The ContactLinkTM Plus Business Card promises to magnify the benefits and conveniences. Imagine these:
These are just a few. The features will continue to grow as more and more people find creative ways to benefit from it. We released this update to allow our users to quickly adapt to the new market changes since we released the product in 2017. The acceptability for digital business cards is growing, most new smartphones now come built-in with scanners, and the Internet ecosystem is now full of social media platforms that further offers a diversity of tools on information sharing. Our ContactLinkTM is an ideal tool that works across different social media and communications platforms, across different devices, regardless of the network access technology.
I've prepared a simple comparison chart below of the features of our new product compared to the version it will replace (Please turn your smartphone to landscape orientation to see the whole table in your screen):
